Hello i have just got my self a vfr400 nc30 i am 18 and want to ride the bike on the road and will be doing my test soon.
i was wondering if anyone has the 33bhp restrictor kit that i can buy as i keep getting quoted prices over £200 and i just think its silly.
I have been told that there is no need for a certificate as long as the bike is restricted to 33bhp and if i need to i can get a dyno results certificate.
does anyone have anymore information on this.

Re: 33bhp Restrictor Kits
FI international supply your local MOT or bike workshop with a kit they cost £172 plus what other labour charge to fit it , you cant buy them yourself from them as you need to be regestered with vosa as a mot inspector or summit like that,
they are washers that fit in the inlet rubbers on each carb, the dimesions are
outer diameter 36mm
inner hole diameter 16.5mm
you can just make or buy a set of washers from someone ending there restriction and fit them yourself ,( some people sell them on here for a small price)
the law only states your bike is restricted to 33bhp, how you go about that is up to you really , but some ensurers require some kind of proof that the work has been carried out , either a dyno print out or a certificate from FI international does the trick,
i belive th FI international way is most sucure as the details of your restriction go on the dvla database alongside your restricted licence details , (ANPR purposes)others may disagree on this tho ,
i was lucky enough to have a friend who MOT's my bikes and he ordered my kit , and i fitted it myself under his supervision so saved a heap on labour charges , but did learn a lot about my bike at the same time wich is priceless
so in summary get a second hand kit fit them yourself get a dyno print out cheap but still legal way or go thru FI international get your dealer to fit but that is gunna cost you

Thanks :) also the bike is under my dads name still due to some confusion from the guy we got it off, he will be riding it aswell from time to time but he has his normal full bike license and if i just kept it in his name and got it restricted by a proper Mechanic would it make any difference thanks :).

Re: 33bhp Restrictor Kits
i woulld assume it would be ok , as long as it is restricted you should be fine on your licence.
i do know tho that the fi international cert should be in your name to be valid , but that i think only applies if the bike is regestered to you , if your going down that route , get it restricted get your insurance sorted you should be kool,, as long as the bike is at 33bhp your be fine and the law cant touch you.
my nc 30 is restricted and it goes like stink still, will still do 100mph with no real effort and gets there pretty quick ,,fast enough for the road
