NC30 carb top plate

Post by CRM » Fri Sep 04, 2009 7:50 pm

Guys, assuming some lemon took off the top plate of the carbs which sandwiches the intake stacks, how the fuck do you refit them ?
Assuming you have the patience of a saint, they dont even line up close. the carbs look a bit twisted.
is it a case of strip each one down, and fit to the plate ? before trying to bolt the carbs together ?
or is the RVF top plate different to NC30 ?

I have only refitted NC top plate, and it went on OK, with a bit of a push, but make sure it is the right way round, as it is not symetrical.

I found it easier to undo the bolts that hold each carb to the other. (Not the connecting rods or gummings may I note!) I think theres only two? Then you have a msall amount of movement in each carb to get it onto the plate. But your right, it isnt half hard! LOL I find the worst bit is lining the Holes in the Rubber Velocity Stacks up with the breather holes on the carbs! (NC30). Sorry, I have no experience with RVF's.

nope i think there is something a bit more underlying. ie wrong carbs.
seriously, removed one carb from the bank and the holes dont line up.
these have silver tops over the slides so these are NC24 carbs after all trying to fit a NC30 plate.
DOH

Now who has a spare set of decent NC30/RVF carbs pls ?

they are just bastards mate. RVF carbs have 3 bolt plastic black tops on the slides and the NC30 has metal 4 bolt alloy tops..

It took me ages to swap the long rubber stacks for Martin's stumpy ones..fooking ages....

mark, i have spent the day rebuilding NC24 carbs - gutted, no wonder they wont fit
its clear, after thinking to myself, "hmm the choke rail looks odd, and i thought it should have 2 vent pipes with a kink on the end, not one" after seeing a pic of NC24 carbs i know what i have now.
anyway they fit the NC30 carb rubbers lol
