Pretty cool, I've seen people pack more batteries and more powerful motors (or multiple motors) than that.

I love the idea of grabbing a hacker, ditching the engine and sticking a motor and baterries in!

The only downside is the lack of a gearbox. I reckon you could engineer a two speed centrifugal 'gearbox' off the motor somehow though (like an RC car).

The chain and brakes would sound noisy as hell though!

make it simple and dont bother with a gearbox!, an electric motor has 100% torque from the second you put voltage on it so you can just have one very long gear, 15000rpm but change the sprockets around and youll still have a pretty quick bike allbeit with a top speed of around 80

there is a guy in america that put a relay in his car that swaps the battery wiring from parallel to series or otherway round. this acts like a gear change for the motor. so htat could be an option. i think his car did the 1/4 mile in under 10 sec & this was probably about 5 yrs ago.

some EV conversions keep the original gearbox minus the clutch (you just unload the throttle when u change gears)
but I think most EV conversions just use 1 long gear.

i haven't actually looked at any power/torque vs RPM curves for electric motors, but they are pretty steady I believe. (as said above)
