Tyre pressures?

Post by stretchie_ » Mon Aug 24, 2009 10:01 am

Hi guys

I have done a search but got no results. (Well, I tell a lie, I got one hit about hydraulic pressure.. Not really what I was after ;) )

What are the recommended tyre pressures for the NC29? (I normally go for the two's up / fast riding pressure)

Cheers

Haynes says 33psi/2.25 bar front and 36/2.5 rear two-up mate.

aaahhh.. BUT....
it also depends on what your tyre manufacture recommends...this is what id go on personally

our Haynes was printed in the dark ages.. tyres have moved on a hell of a lot since it was printed.

This manufacturer recommends the vehicle manufacturers pressures, which are reproduced in the Haynes...

I've had the best results with about 36 psi up front, and around 34 psi out back. BUT I'm running a 160 tire out back, along with an F3 shock. so my handling is definitely different from stock to begin with. Start with the factory recommendations and experiment a little, first with the front and then with the rear. I went from wandering with every little crack in the pavement to about as solid as you can get on a light bike without a steering damper.

33 - 33 is what I run on the road. I suppose 36 would be ideal on the back, 2 up but 2 up on a 400????? Was once on the back of a Gull and bloody hell, I thought I was going to slide off the seat. The rider was great too, but I am a shitbag being a pillion, but the bike certainly didnt help.
Worth doing the suspension if you ride 2 up a lot as the standard shock is designed for 8 stone Japs. GF mod is well worth it.

Not planning on doing 2's up on the 400, will use the blackbird for that.

But planning on sending the standard shock off for a rebuild
