Deffo bullshit.... If that were me I'd be hunting high n low for that info, as the bike would 'lose' value if not proved to be '1 of 200'.
As previously mentioned, Honda would have documented such a run of 200 machines, just like many of the rally homologation cars from the 80's

Please direct him to this thread..

I don't care if he owned Aston Martin, anybody can be wrong.. and citing that he had seen another forsale on eBay as proof! wtf is that about?

A website where the seller can pretty much say what they want about their own items.. yes i'll take that as being a valid source of information... what with all the 80hp NC30's you see on there all the while and the 'original' paint schemes... hmmmmm

At least the other guy said hey I realise i've been bullshitted and I just want to get as much money for the bike as possible.

Lets sum up the debate so far.

Reasons for:

-Seller claims it is a limited edition and has 'misplaced proof'

Reasons against:

-Honda document all of their production run bikes very well, this 'model' doesn't appear to have any records with any of the UK distributors... David Silver Spares or Lings Honda

-Nobody on here has ever heard of one or cannot find any information about them.

-The sellers proof was in a book which got mislaid.. not the book, just the proof inside it.

Notable Members that have testified to this included (sorry if I forget anyone)

CMSNJ1 - Very knoweledgable about the bike
arsey30 - Knows pretty much everything!
Me - Asked a few friends in Japan about protobikes / special editions and nobody knows anything.

-The OP appears to have backtracked on their original story... (rare clutch to clutch doesn't fit etc)

* Having a low serial number bike doesn't make it any rarer than any other bike, this is an illusion.

If bikes made in 1989 ran from 00001 - 09999 you have an equal chance of getting any serial number when buying a second hand 1989 bike.. sure there is a chance that the earlier ones might have been on the road slightly longer so they are slightly more likely to have been in an RTA but this is negligble.. it's just a hyped up marketing point.. like having 7777 / 10000 etc.

Incidentally it's well documented by Honda when jettings and other bits are changed... on the engine number and the frame number...

for example with the NC24.. at frame number NC24-xx7500 -> the jetting changed to 115 all aroudn instead of 110/112.

Having a frame number / engine number that is part of the standard range just proves this is a normal bike.

Every other major motorcycle manufacturer follows this suit.

The only 'proof' I believe this guy is likely to have is some rubbish printed off a diallusioned fanboy website to say his bike is special.. these kind of stories have gone back since automobiles began... 'oh my car isn't just another vauxhall astra, it's a limited edition of only 10 ever made,' - makes it sound better you see.

Especially among grey imports and non-uk models this kind of thing always runs rife.. a little extra to tell when selling it.

I only live about an Hours drive from Motegi, next time i'm up at the collection hall I'll ask the staf there if they know anything.. they have a MINT NC30 in the collection and know about most things ;)

Can't find anything on Honda Japan and they have even the most obscure press releases.. like special edition NC24 etc.. since the NC30 was way more popular any 'special edition' would have made the papers...

Sounds to me just like a low serialed biked trying to be hyped up.. if things don't fit anymore it has probably been bodged in the past.

Why don't one of us go have a look at it and get some good photos.

Had enough with this thread now though.. the guy seems like too much of an ape to admit he might be wrong.

Right... I have had an email from Pete (now Penny) Panagi from the NC30 club and she says that this does ont ring any bells and as far as she is aware there are no limited editions of the NC30 - apart form the 30th TT anniversary one like I suggested..though this is not a limited edition.

I am fairly happy to stick my neck out some more than before and remove my benefit of some doubt and firmly go for a zero chance of this being anything other than someone gutted to have been fished in by someone else...

many NC30 owners of have fallen short of dodgy/incorrectly supllied Clutch Cables,

you know what that means Colin i have LTD EDITION NC30

WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

on a side note it is LTD ED only one created by me!

this guy is an utter jerk off if he can make a claim (a genuine one) then surely these IMPORTANT documents would be kept safe, this guy sounds like a 10 a penny Chav! so good luck to him and his LTD ED bike at least we know where to find one now :D

I addressed my email to Pete Panagi, as I am confident that was the name of the person running it of old. The mail I received was very nice (from Penelope Panagi) and explained that she had changed her name and the business was going to be promoted again ater a few busy years of private life.

I hope Penny comes on here and aligns with our current incumbent suppliers and gurus and gives us the benefit of her experience. One of my NCs had an NC30 club folder and various bits and bobs. Some of the kit that was made was obviously good kit!

On the subject of our ltd edition...I thnk we have given this enough Poirot, Columbo and Mrs Marple action that we can all sleep soundly tonight..
