The 29 costs a fortune to do,part of that is because it needs lot of one off bits and services. The layout of the bike is better than a 30,both to work on and future potential.Where did you get the weight figures?

So after all that, which is better? I think a mint standard NC30 is the nicer of the two to look at,partly because it is a shrinky dink replica of one of the best bikes on the planet. As a race bike though I think the V4 has had its day. Once you get past 70 bhp heat is a big problem.I hate working on them as well, swapping exhausts and jets takes hours compared with the straight four layout.I didnt know the 30 was lighter,it certaily feels heavier, perhaps the weight is higher up the chassis.

i've had a V4's for the past 5 odd years and can honestly say it doesn't take hours to swap out jets or systems, new carb rubbers made the process easier and the right sockets get the system off in the same time it takes to get one off another bike but i'd say there is probably less room to work on a V4 than an IL4. and i would have swore blind the V4 was the heavier of the two.

and i don't think GFrance races an IL4 because he likes the looks of them, i'd say it's more to do with them being a better race bike. :|

I am running a 29 now,its a doddle to work on,but expensive to get above 70bhp.I still cant see how the 30 is lighter, but the figures are quite substantial.where does the extra come from? The wheel/swingarm from a V4 is a right lump, with all the weight right where it shouldnt be. I cant see how a V4 motor is lighter,so where is the extra? I would rather have a mint Nc30 in red white blue over any stock 29,but they are both Hondas, with the build quality that makes some look like a bit of garden machinery.

Can only go by my mate as he has had them all. He thought the 23 was best made, the 30 the fastest and the 29 the smoothest, but all were brililant. He also said the 29 creaked a lot, which I agree with having one. A mate brought his 35 into work and my first impression was how slim it was compared to my bike, suppose its because of the NC29 IL4 is wider up front and it gives a wider look from the tank forward. Take a look in the forum if you want to see pics of an NC30 and RC30, CRM had some up, you can see they are close but not identical. But closer than the Fireblade/NC29 connection I suppose.

The Nc 30 in standard trim is one of my top ten bikes.Having had to work on other peoples probably took the pleasure out of spannering them though. My mate races my 29 for me,but didnt go as well on it as his 35,but it was a rushed job.First time out was first practice at the Manx last year.We both talked about the two bikes, and he prefers the 29,just need more power. They are both top bikes, but I am getting really into 29s at the moment, ask me at the end of the season.
