think i read somewhere that its a sleeved down cbr600rr, something to do with the class he wants to race in.
still sounds very interesting

Mike the triples were perfect. The problem was all down at the wheel and actually a little twist in the swingarm wasn't helping the issue. We were able to get everything dead straight and between the improvement in geometry and the softer springs in the front we were able to pick up a full second over last years times at Jennings GP. That puts me in the 1:22 range around that place.

Well done sir. When I get done with the 560RR project I'll be back to trying to get some more juice out of the 400. I kind of let the ball drop on the cam gears you were doing but I plan to get back to those.

Finally got my alternator kit up & running - Haven`t had time to put any road miles on it yet but you can certainly feel the difference even just blipping it in the workshop.

It is a beautifully made kit and everything fits just as it should. I left the fins on the outside of the case and just put a very minimal counterbore on the mounting holes in order to have a flat seat for the bolt heads to ensure that it`s oiltight.

Doesn`t say so in Mikes instructions, but you can use the original seals where the wiring comes out of the case, even though the wires are slightly thicker on the GSXR alternator. There`s not enough length of wire on the Suzuki alternator to go across the `V` to the original harness plug, so I`ve modded the harness slightly to allow the wiring to run up the left side of the engine and plug fairly directly into the reg/rec.

Suzuki part numbers for the GSXR1000 K7 alternator are -

Stator - 31401-41G10
Rotor - 31402-41G10

I have also gone and fitted mine...but me being me..I have a problem!

The installation was no worries and I was confident of doing a good job. However, at lower rev - below 2.5k I can feel and hear something is not right. I stripped it back out and reinstalled. There was no indication of anything rubbing, or interference anywhere so when I put it back in I was expecting it to be alright.

The same small vibration and sound at low revs. A blip of the throttle, or even steady 4k revs makes it all smooth and no noises..

So..any ideas? I am totally vexed by it. Nothing is catching inside the cover...the flyhweel is on fairly soldily (although not as tight perhaps as the original?) the cover is drilled, dremelled and the stator coil is very secure.

could it be that your stator is only secured by two instead of three bolts, the electro-magnetic forces can easily "rock" the stator on the mounting if a bolt is missing...

I do have the top third bolt in there...I see it is missing in that picture! I may go ahead and see if a fresh resinstall of the back piece, stator and bolts helps.

I can imagine that it is something like that which is why it goes away with some revs.

Any other ideas for me to work guys?

hi guys iv built an nc30 over the winter lots of work but im no mecanic
list of wot iv done so far
engine stripped quitening gears out rvfheads and cams tuned carbs running 150 jetts
brand new rads to my speck programable igni twin stack ex running total loss vfr750 rear convertion nitron rear maxton front ram air plus stearing damper wot else can i do to keep with the zxr400s

Mark: I'm yet to put my gixxer adapter on, hopefully you'll sort your problems then I'll copy!

Is it hard mounted to the engine cover or did you use rubber/plastic washers? Maybe if it's hard mounted that's the source of your noise?
