buggar that.. an NC30 on BT90s will lap faster with stock suspension due to the superiority of the tyres.
not worth messing with, just get a decent condition standard shock? you can pick them up for pennies

Im confused
are you saying put a NC30 shock on my NC24 or get a standard NC24 shock which would need a complete refurb before going on my bike (in which case i could get mine refurbed, but all the companies i asked dont refurb the nc24 shock)
I just want to get the bike back on the road and not have to spend another xx ammount down the road when i hit another one of the many big dips and blind pot holes in my area.

I mean that you may as well just put a good condition second hand shock in there if everythign else is standard on the bike
But you should try and ride around more pot-holes not over them, your old shock was probably knackered if it died but if you keep riding over bad pot holes you can kill even a new shock.

I do ride around potholes, but some of the roads around redditch are terrible.
on the wat to my mates house there is a road that has about 50 potholes in a 1/2 mile section and trying to avoid all them are impossible.
Why is a Hagon shock so much not worth the money? There are not many second hand NC24 shocks about and the ones that do come up are in poor looking condition.

Ive found an option for a refurb of my NC24 shock for £100 which will be set up to my weight and all that,
Hagon shock for £300 which i beleive is adjustable.
Anyone want a 2004 CBR600RR shock? £25 its yours as i dont need one now.

hi i have a nc24 and would like to now how you modified the bike mine is standard and the front forks are well to soft. and are the engines the same as the nc30,and if so what tune up can you do and where do you get all the parts

The engines totally different to the NC30 engine,
Apart from them sharing the same block (NC13E) the engine fires different (180 deg) as opposed to the 360 degree firing of the NC30.. the NC24 setup is similar to the old VF series engines but with cam-gears.
This means the pistons, rods, crank, camshafts and pretty much everything else inside the engine is different.. the exhaust system, frame, forks, brakes, wheels, tyres are also quite a bit different.
The NC24 has typical 80's Honda forks that are soft.. if you can't get used to this then Maxtron do a set of springs for aroudn 60gbp that i'd recommend, these will stiffen the front up for you.
There isn't a lot you can do to the NC24, it was only made for 2 years, not very popular, especially compared to the NC30 which is why they don't fetch a lot of money and parts are unavailable.
The tyres / brakes / suspension on the NC30 were totally different in a better way (better rubber / better suspension and better brakes) also the build quality was stupidly high which is why these bikes command the premium.
Apart from get the bike running ok and maybe drop in the fork springs there isnt a great deal you can do tuning wise without investing serious money in somethign that will be a bit of a bottomless pit..
Even the NC30's don't have that many tuning options available unless your willing to invest in a lot of money.. some of the g-force (USA) 30's have had insane amounts of money spent getting them to produce more power.
The only 400 with the widest range of parts and easiest to tinker with is the ZXR.. it was made the longest and has a wide-variety of cams/exhausts/carbs (including FCRs) / and even gasket thicknesses availalable.. the UK model also produced 65ps as standard and with some flat-slides, SP loom/box and a bit of modding it's not too difficult to build a track bike pushing 80ps for a lot less than you'd spend on an NC...
However they don't have that lovely V4 whine :)

It's been a while since you posted, but.......
I'm in the same boat. I want to put a 600rr shock on my NC24, for reasons of performance, and also because I want to raise the rear up a little.
Was the length issue the only thing preventing a successful transplant?

any luck on that CBR600rr 2004 shock ? I have bought one with intention to replace f*cked shock on mine, and planning to do that over weekend.
