Re: Finally Got My BIKE!!!! (new naked pic's )
Right I see your point!
Page 5 of the VFR gallery has a bike whose owner was called oily - that has the HRC bottle fitted - have a look - there is loads of room there to fit it. it doesn't take long to do and I'm sure it works just fine.
The overflow is only really needed when the bike gets mega hot - like on track days in the summer when the radiators are working over time. especially when they are old and blocked like mine were before I got the Rick Oliver ones.!!

Re: Finally Got My BIKE!!!! (new naked pic's )
I've heard the best place to put the overflow bottle is on the top right corner of the bottom rad.
Just cable tie it on and then the overflow on the top radiator is just above it.
That's where i'm gonna put mine.

Re: Finally Got My BIKE!!!! (new naked pic's )
Cheers for that, thats were I was thinking of putting it there as there's a space thats perfect size so if the bike gets dropped (not that i plan to of course) it should be protected,
next Q, im thining of taking the whole cooling system apart as iv got samco hoses and this overflow bottle to put on + I want to clean and spray both rads, whats the best way to do this? drain the system then disconect everything? or is there a secret thing you have to do... and when i put it back together should I flush the system with anything before i put new fluids in?

Re: Finally Got My BIKE!!!! (new naked pic's )
Not a good idea to spray the rads, it clogs all the fins up and does more harm than good, especially as the v4's have a hard time colling well as it is.Spike16 wrote:I want to clean and spray both rads, whats the best way to do this? drain the system then disconect everything? or is there a secret thing you have to do... and when i put it back together should I flush the system with anything before i put new fluids in?
Run a hose through any of the rad pipes (with a bottom hose off to drain), it will push through any crud, you might be surprised at what comes out.

Re: Finally Got My BIKE!!!! (new naked pic's )
Yeh I wasnt gona spray the fins, im not that dumb
here's what I got up to today:
flushed the cooling system
removed the rads
test fitted the samco hoses
cleaned both rads
paint stripped the bottom rad
the lower rad is in a bad way but my bike takes ages to get up to temp let alone overheat so im not worried for now, but will deffinetly put a new lower rad on the mental shopping list for the future,
these are the rads

cant disconect the fan so have just masked the conectiong up

this one is in good nick but im gona repaint the stone guard as they have got surface rust and make it look worse than it really is
il post some more pics when they have been resprayed and have the samco's fitted and the hrc res bottle
o and im going for genuine hrc instead of this cheep knock off fruit shoot crap you see in other threads, everyone knows genuine hrc gives and extra 10bhp and halfs the weight!!!

Re: Finally Got My BIKE!!!! (new naked pic's )
The rads are painted and I got a item i have been waiting on for a while

Yes im an imposter... but it does look very good against the carbon background and so much nice than the original scorpion badge
O here's a not very good pic of the lower rad drying, the upper rad looks quite good now with a fresh lick of paint

Just need to paint the stone guard, get the hrc overflow bottle and fit it all with the samco pipes and the cooling system will be sorted
hmmm what next.....
