On the fuel tank lock, a big screwdriver and a hammer will soon get any key working in there. Not a pretty method.

Don't be such a cowboy and destroy the lock.
Take the complete lock to a good locksmith and they should be able to cut you a key to fit it.
Theres a traditional locksmith / key cutters I used to take things too, he charged me about 12gbp last time to cut a couple of keys for a bike that I didn't have they keys for. Just took the igition lock with me.

Re: seat lock , can i get into it!
im going to write this in CAPITALS & BOLD
I DONT THINK YOU GUYS SEEMS TO GRASP WHAT SHAUN IS ASKING, HE HAS A SPARE LOCK AND WANTS TO MAKE THE TUMBLER PINS WORK ON HIS KEY THAT WORKS FOR HIS TANK AND IGNITION SO HE DOESNT HAVE TO HAVE A SET OF PRISON KEYS ON HIS BIKE! HE WANTS TO REMOVE THE HEADS OF THE TUMBLER PINS SO THAT ANY KEY CAN BE USED THUS MEANING HE CAN USE ONE KEY
i hope that helps!

Re: seat lock , can i get into it!
without making this sound like an argument yes i wear a back protector, dgunthor wrote:That's cool, appreciate it.porndoguk wrote:im not disputing the time it takes etc! but for gods sake please put you chain in a back pack or the like,
i use a heavy kryptonite chain and it goes in the back pack.
its has happened and will continue to KILL people, the chains are heavy and fracture the undertray and then wrap round the wheel whilst in motion, im just pre warning you that is all.
As I said, it's not caused a problem in a lot of miles - the other thing I'm wary of is what you wear on your back and the effect it can have on you in an accident - are you wearing your back pack on your back? (or attached to the bike?)
Surely this could cause injury if on your back?
All the best,
Dave
but the point what you seem to misunderstand here is
1 the chain in the underseat is the Cause of a possible accident
2 the back protected is a preventative measure in the Event of an accident
were not talking about the protecter after an accident here were talking about PREVENTING one.
i carry loads of shit in a bag as a rule, wallet, waterproofs, phone, chain, clothes, dependant on my destination, etc etc, so have a foot of cushioning on my back, i use a berghaus 30litre which has a massive foam pad too,
any way, it was advice/suggestion after seeing the effects of said location of the chain,
take the advice or leave it didnt realise looking out for each other would get such adverse reactions!

I'm not having an argument - as I said appreciate the advice.
Advice I have always been given is to keep your chain in/on your bike - some wear it around their necks!
Cheers,
Dave

i dont think youd need to chain the bike up if you were this guy :Ddgunthor wrote:I'm not having an argument - as I said appreciate the advice.
