Japanese wiki has it that Doug Polen won the tt-F3 in 1989... he was good!

Good call, don't think I've ever seen that bike. I would probably do nasty things to that bike it's so luscious....
By my calculations that would make either 1990 or 91 the year they ruled out non-production bikes (a la rvf) from the F3 championship?!
A pity it's so hard (for us westerners) to dig up information on these bikes. I'd love to see them in detail, including the yam yzf400 (which is obviously bloody impossible to google given the dirtbike!).
