HRC open carbs with full system run 122 IIRC.

HRC carbs come with 146+ jet sizes... ;)

120/122 will be pretty rich as standard I reckon.

My race bike runs a full system but standard airbox/filter and is sweet as a nut on 120/120 :peace:
so would you think the reason mine is 'groggy' on start up is because of 120's all round? would 118/120 suit her better? or is raising the needle likely to get a better result? ( the needles are aready using 2 washers )

Most nc30's are a bit 'groggy' when cold I reckon... that is pretty normal.

If it runs fine when hot just forget about it!

raising the needle will make it even richer so not what you want.

Lean bikes feel snappy and rev lovely - they just don't have the power.

rich bikes feel sluggish and fluffy - not crisp.

I'd go for 118/120 and std needle settings and go from there.

when she is warm she rev's lovely. is only when shes cold, after i take the choke off for a good 5 mins after she is very 'groggy'

when i say groggy, if you open the throttle between 3k and around 7k its as if she is fighting to ge through the revs, but when you have done it once, and open the throttle for a second time she will fight less to get past this spot.

then on a third attempt she will get all the way through with no problems. again however this is only when the choke has been taken off. if i let her stand for a further 5mins after the choke has been closed and then open the throttle she runs straight through and does feel 'crisp'.

if i get time i may remove the extra washer under the needles to see if that improves things otherwise i will leave it all alone as once shes warm all is well.

it is amazing how we all pretty much have the same bike, but how what works for one, will not always work for another....

as work has been dead the past couple of days i have brought the carbs in with me and i have just removed the extra washer from each of the needles ( was two under each needle).

so i will put them back on tonight and see how i go. i think it may improve things, if adding two washers makes it slightly richer, then removing the extra one ( back to standard ) may help, can only try.

if not i will put them back in.

ok tried the carbs with only the one set of washer under the needles. seemed less 'groggy' than before, i have found a set of couple of 118's kicking round in my box of bits. i may try these in the front and keep the 120's in the back and see how it goes.

i know this goes agaist everything i said before but im really not happy and want to try everything i can.

any how i did say i would put a up dated vid on you tube. this is a walk around with all of the body on, race can, pretty much everything. is off to paint very soon now!

right, rather excited i have the fairings back! just painted no laquer, just waiting on brooky to send the decals in the post. i will get these fitted once more tommorrow so shes all ready for the decals. once were happy with the location of the decals back off they will go for laquer then mot time!

is not easy to see the colour finish in the pictures as its not natural light. the pictures tommorrow will look far more impressive.

steel grey is the colour,
