Did Swopping the clip ons not cure the clearance issue?

it did, but when i did the right side, i must of not done it properly, there is plenty of clearance to be honest, but the MOT guy says its too close to the tank at full lock. its fixed now though.

When you say you adjusted the headlights, how did you do it?

The proper way with a tape measure and the bike level or just by turning the screw?

The beam has to be aligned a certain way and without measuring tools (the old fashioned way) or a machine (the easier way) you can't just turn the screw.

Did you not secure the brake line either?

Before you have the MOT done call the garage and ask them if they can aim the headlights for you, most do it for around a tenner.

Not allowed to watch the MOT? That sounds like a right fly-by-night garage! In 16 years of having my bikes MOTd, I've never been to a place that refuses to have you watch, and in fact it's quite often they get you yourself to sit on the bike when they do the braking efficiency and headlight checks because your own weight can affect the results!

My RVF has a completely standard front end, and the bars get very close to the tank, so maybe the bloke is being a bit anal. The thing about the brake hose, didn't you ruin the last one by rubbing it? Loose chainguard is surely only a spanner job unless it's damaged, and the headlight aim is a screwdriver when the bike is infront of the pattern marker that they use. I've had several occasions where the aim has been wrong, and the tester has always adjusted it to suit as it takes seconds. Reflector pence, I go a silly little round thing to stick to the registration plate. I got that as a fail one year (after the same place passed it for years on end) as the rear lights don't have one built in. Apparently it's to do with parking at night. I guess a ruddy great registration plate shining in bright yellow isn't enough for a car driver to be able to see the bike... :s I did say my bike lives in a garage but apparently that wasn't the point! lol As for your reg plate, do they just mean it's pissed? That's an easy fix too....

Frankly, from what you've said before, I'd be going to a different place in future!

I would imagine the Suzuka fairing is pressing against the lights when fitted. These fairings need a small spacer between the fairing and the headlight bracket.

Number plate not vertical? What's that all about?

I think it means vertical as in left to right plane, rather than front to back? The after market seat unit/subframe's on the piss, isn't it?

No well. because of the shitty k-con undertray, the plate holder is quite horizontal, so the plate looks flat. i made a bracket to fix that, as you can see in the picture. the second thing about the brake hose being insecure, well it is secure, it just has some excess going around the chainguard to the caliper, i could probably fix that by pushing it through towards the other end. and Neo, yes i just turned the screw down without doing proper measurements, i will google how to properly adjust the headlight aim and do it that way, also il ask the MOT guy to see if he can adjust it there if its off. The suzuka fairing also has that spacer, so thats not an issue, i think ive just done the aim wrong.

I think he's right about the hose. There's enough spare there that it could probably flop off of the chainguard and get caught in the wheel, disc or sprocket if it really wanted to. Are the clips still present for it assuming that's the stock chainguard? The chainguard looks to be bolted at the rear, I presume the front if bolted on too, in which case why is it deemed insecure? Is it split, or did you fix it after the test?

There should be a wire guide for the brake hose that is bolted to the rear chain adjuster pinch bolt...that would sort the issue.
