Its not that I don't like the look of it, but it's very much form over function when it actually does the opposite of the real deal (slows down wheel changes instead of speeding them up). But the look is sweet. What I tried to say (a bit clumsy) was that a real QD axle is quite easy to have made, I guess it would cost about £70-100 to have it machined.

Tony, if you like a sketch, I'll come up with something, but Royster said quite good. You make an internally treaded bush, which is held in the lefthand side forkbottom by the pinch bolts, it most be shaped like tophat, so that it doesn't pull through when the axle is torqued up. The axle is just a fancy bolt, with the same tread as the bush and a small groove machined right under the head, so that you can secure the socket guide with circlip.

Ok lets do this properly then, ronni if you could sketch out some ideas for the axle so it works as it should with the socket guides that would be great. I'll email drew again for the measurements of the guides if that wil help

What are they? Like a captive spacer to enable quick wheel releases... or sumfink?

they are there to guide the socket onto the axle/axle bolt, when doing wheelchanges..

DM, I will just have to dig out an axle (NC30, is it the same as a NC35??) and do some measurements, then I post a sketch. Meanwhile, feast your eyes on this http://www.s1000rrforum.com/forum/bmw-s ... ation.html it's a BMW, but ignore that, the principle is the same and very simply engineered. I would make a loose socket guide in alloy instead to save some weight (and then you can anoidise it whatever colour you like.)
