Im going to be using the bike mainly for road use and possibly an occasional track day..

Well that 2 months with no progress...lol

Im hoping to get a good day at it on Sunday but to be honest where the bike is in a shed with no heating and poor lighting its not been worth the effort.

Forks are back on now and looking good.
Ive been hoarding parts over the winter so really I need to start work on the motor.

With that, house hunting and a wedding to pay for unfortunatley the bikes been put on the back burner for a while.

To be honest im not sure W00dzy, give Greame France a call and he will advise you.

Ive not bought the springs yet, funding issues with having to re-build the SP1.

Right Ive pulled my finger out and the engine is now in bits, Valve clearances checked and 3 new inlet shims ordered.

Im hoping to have the motor and carbs back together by the end of next week and have the bike running shortly afterwards.

Il pop some more pics up after the weekend, Im also looking at some cbr600 forks so if I get them too then il be on my way.

Ive made abit more headway with the bike this week,

The new shims are fitted and all the clearances checked again, Im getting more confident working on engine internals now.

Removed the sump and gave it all a good clean out to remove any bits of crap which have settled in there over the past 20years.
Newly painted sump with new bolt/washer and fresh gasket all put back on.

With the cover removed

I also gave the cylinder head cover a good clean and respray whilst I was at it.

Whilst spraying the cylinder head cover I thought Id give the other covers a lick of paint too

I had an artistic moment and thought id detail the honda in red whilst I was at it.

I also gave the rad a good clean and respray, really impressed with the result

and finally ive decided on a paint scheme for the bike,I think it will really suit the 400.

The plan for the next week is to get the engine fully back together and get some oil in there. Then its onto the carbs, Ive stripped them but I need to get some new bolts and work out what jets to use.
