Bike Identification

This is probably a really stupid question, so please bear with me!

Looking at my documents I seem to have a CB400 SF-V, which was apparently declared manufactured in 1994. There are stickers on the bike saying Project big 1. Engine number is NC23E.

There seem to be different models, and I'm not sure what Big 1 is. Can anyone give me a quick summary of the big picture here?

It would be good to have a copy of a service manual but I'm not sure if the ones mentioned in threads round here are what i need for this bike. Help!
