Define over rev on the down change! :o

Do you mean don't hit the rev limiter while down changing? I don't hit it on the 400, but when I had my RS250 many moons ago used to bounce the needle into the rev limiter on the way into turns, to stay in the power on the way out. Is this what we talking about?!

Stimpy, hope you get the all clear soon, it's been ages!

There is no rev limiter when you downchange, the ignition will cut but the engine will still spin that quick or quicker.

I've blown up one vfr400 engine doing that. Whoops!

when i did an engine,i was on the limiter going into turn 1 at Phillip island...from full noise i just knocked it back to 5th as i turned in...should have just rolled off
result:
4 valves,bent
spun a bearing on the crank
bent a conrod
and to think i was doing 1.49s at the time
now from being smooth ,1.47.0
and no engine probs
lesson...dont over rev the down change

damn....... lucky I've got a spare rebuilt motor with the bike perhaps

Though engine number is 1253030 and can't seem to find what 'year' it matches, its in 'no mans land' of engine numbers charts :?

Hi all
With ref your engine number, You wont find itin a CBR400 because its from a CB1 (CB400FL). You know the naked semi retro perimeter tube framre jobby with the single front btake disc, If you do try to put it in your NC23 bear in mind that the outer exhaust exits on the head are angled to each side not straight ahead as on the NC23. Hope that helps.
