Hey
Just about to change the tyres on the bike as they are awful "macadams" and want something sticky and also good in the wet so looking at the 2CTs and Pilot Sports as possible replacements.
The current sizes fitted to the bike are.....160/60/17 on the back and 120/60/17 on the front.
I am thinking of changing this though as the rear in particular looks to have a very high profile (60) and think a more sensible one would be 160/50/17, but not sure if this will cause any probs and/or whether I should change the front to a 50 profile as well if I do go down this route....
The reason for changing the profile is mainly that the bike is for my better half to "cut her teeth" on and I think a lower profile will inspire a bit more confidence as the "drop off" when cornering will be less severe if you know what I mean?
Any advice will be much appreciated especially if you've tried different brands/sizes on your '35.....

Re: tyre sizing RVF400 (NC35)
I am leaving my post here but I think I may have answered my own question as a quick search has revealed there aren't any 160/50/17 tyres for sale!
So is everyone else running 160/60/17 and 120/60/17 sizes on their RVF??

I've a 160/60 on my VFR (RVF rear wheel) and a 120/70 on the front although I've not ridden the bike since having these fitted. The standard size for the rear is 150/60 and 120/60 for the front.

I run the standard 150 rear on the rear but a 110 on the front as I am using NSR Magteks I love this set up as I quickens the steering and it's not like you reach anywhere near max lean on the road. My track 29 has 120 front and 160 rear, it's slower to steer but is more stable at high speed leanage (oooh a new word I like it)

if your running a 160 rear i'd run a 120/70 on the front, with wider rear tyre you run the risk of washing out on the front. you've got extra grip on the rear but not on the front with a 120/60, if you run a 120/70 its a sharper profile and you will get extra side grip when the bike's on its side. If your not racing or trackdaying it i would stick to standard sizes
