nc23 against yamaha rd350
Hi all,
i was talking to a lad today and he recons a Yammy rd350 would beat an nc23 from pull off and through all the gears until top end then nc23 would only just catch up then,
true or not anyone?

It may do, the RD350LC was a quick bike in its day...

rd350 is a 2-stroke bike. no offence.
2-stroke power aproximately twice as a 4-stroke power for the same cc's.

I think I raced one at Smeathorpe earlier this year on my 23, but it could have been and RD400?
It was an 1/8th mile strip and we were extremely evenly matched.
He could launch from the line easier but had trouble keeping the front wheel down.
Here it is:

That would be an RD400 indeed - renowned for v.quick acceleration!!
LC vs. NC23?? Pub tales may abound but the easier way to find out without a lot of willy waving is: to find out the easy way....
Im not going to say do this on a quiet bit of carraigeway late one night with peeps either end to set you off and see who gets in first, that would be illegal!
(But fun tho....

Re: nc23 against yamaha rd350
Heres my RD490DX from a few years back - RD250DX proddie racer rolling chassis - RD powervalve forks, got tired of replacing pistons on the 250 motor so I put a YZ490 MX engine in there.... MASSIVE carb, cut the MX pipe into 13 sections to reweld them to fit the RD chassis - just 4 gears, around 15 MPG, wheelies on the throttle on the first two gears, (due to the motor having no rubber mounts it shook and vibrated like a sh!tting dog - I didnt really mind as it made my balls go numb after a bit...

60BHP on a lightswitch delivery made for a lively ride in the wet - could outdrag everything tho! Fearsome kickbacks when starting which eventually broke the steel shank in the sole of my MX boots?? Had to get rid of it before it got rid of me..... :D

It did crackle!! Not as loud as my Cafe 400/4 (soon to resurface...) had it for 19 years, my Mum made me start it in the road or it made the garage door rattle.... :D
