I've tried wavy discs twice now, on a srad 750 and also an R1. Both pairs were taken off within a week, they just didn't feel right, too much noise and vibration from the front.
I'll be stumping up for a set of X-Series standard EBC's rather than buying cheap discs and having to replace them in 6 months, found that all 3 sets of discs that came with my most recent NC30 are warped :/ .

They can't do gold carriers, back to square one then.

Odd, where did you get them from? As I got mine for 'only' a ton, I was prepared to be disappointed as I expected much the same as you have found. However, they have far exceeded my expectations. I get no funny noises or vibrations, and they haul the bike up with very little effort in conjunction with the EBC HH pads I've always run. The EBCs that I had taken off were not badly worn, but they had warped, and rusted to buggery, and even the buttons and carrier looked like they lived at the bottom of the sea after a single winter, never mind five or six! Other people have said the same, however maybe the X-series is better. I personally won't touch them with a barge pole at that sort of price, just in case things haven't improved. I expected a hell of a lot better from such a big name source!gavins wrote:I've tried wavy discs twice now, on a srad 750 and also an R1. Re: Front brake discs for NC30 with black carriers
Both sets of 'proper' wavy's i tried were cheap £100 jobbies as well, and new EBC-HH were fitted each time. Perhaps i was just unlucky but braking with them on just felt *wrong* so i'm unlikely to try them again. That said my ER-6f has the standard kawasaki discs with their 'version' of wavy i.e as the pic below and they feel fine.

From what i understand of the newer x-series discs from EBC they have changed the steel they use from the old stuff which had a high iron content which caused the rusting problem and changed to their new squaredrive buttons which eliminates the warping issues. I haven't tried them myself yet but i haven't heard anything bad about them.
I managed to find a statement from ebc on an aprilia forum where someone was complaining about the old style discs
Anyone who has a pair fitted care to provide some feedback on them?

Hi Guys, I am a newbie here, its Andy the owner of EBC Brakes.
Been reading Captains comments amongst others, cant argue at all with findings but just want you to know that EBC has a new team ,new ideas and new products over recent years and we no longer make rotors from NON stainless so the rust issue is gone (we used to use billet steel, it braked well but did rust a little and on a nice bike not what we want) and we have now of the course the very tasty new X and XC series which are lighter, all stainless and alloy and feature the patented EBC Square drive buttons that stop all rotor warping.
I think you will be impressed, if not post comments here and I will get a heads up on my e mail and take care of you
Were here for the long haul and being the largest MC brake producer on this planet our stuff NEEDS to be perfect.
Thats our goal, take a peek at http://www.ebcbrakes.com

Did rust a little... lol Interesting that they mention they used non stainless, considering I'm damned sure they were marketed as stainless! I'd not have bought them otherwise. Seriously, even a ride through a light fog in the morning turned them dark rusty brown... lol
