What bulbs are the nc30?
Just done the relay mod for low beam on the vfr, bought some H4 55w bulbs but they don't fit, what Is the fitting?

H4R is standard, I think you have to mod the headlight a little bit, was covered recently in another thread, but I forget which......

they need some modification to fit, the jap spec bulbs have different tab locations to the default H4 bulb.
so either snip the 2 lower tabs to suit, or try and source a pair of UK spec headlamps.

Yes. The bulbs need modifcation.
The lower two tabs are in the wrong place.
You can either
1. Cut the lower tabs off and fit re-usbable H4 adapter rings (about 6 quid)

2. Bend the tabs inwards and use a nail to steady the bulb.

3. Dremel the plastic around the headlight to fit the H4 tabs

Not sure about the 30, but on the 35 there's also a small semi-circular notch that needs grinding out of one side of the flange on the lamp by a few mm for it to sit level. Not sure if the adapter rings negate this requirement, I haven't got around to fitting them yet.
