CB400 Project Big One

Post by frogdon » Sat Apr 28, 2012 3:04 pm

Before you see the piccies, please remember that I'm a mechanical virgin, and I work in IT (IT people shouldn't be allowed to touch real things), so anything you see here past holding the ignition should be regarded as impressive!

Secondly, thanks to everyone who's helped so far.

Finally, apologies if there's too many pictures... I wasn't sure how many to post!

I'm not sure I've actually improved the bike, but I've been hounded for piccies (alright, it was suggested once), so I thought I'd share anyways.

When it arrived:

Bit of a clean and polish (and a sprayed front fender - I wanted to how it looked on a cheapish bit!), and we get:

The work so far:
Service, coolant change, oil change, plug change, respray of fender, cowl, and tank in metallic blue, polish of fuel cap and everything else I can find, spray of side panels gloss black (still awaiting right-hand stickers including Honda logo), touch-up paint on frame in matt black, replace all the bolts I can find with stainless, exhaust polishing, and spray of engine sides in matt grey. Air box covers (?) are in the process of also being sprayed gloss blank to go with the side panels, and I've removed the luggage handles.

I think that's everything, except for the shocks, which have been polished, but have rusted again

So, that leaves us with:
