what is a better racer rvf or vfr?

Post by Spike16 » Wed Sep 17, 2008 3:29 pm

ok i have been wondering this for while, what is a better race bike the nc35 or the nc30?

the reason i as k this is i see loads of people race the nc35 but hardly any race the nc35, but arnt they almost identical bikes? and surely nc30's are so much cheeper that you could get a track nc30, put usd radial brakes or whatever on and get it to a better spec than an rvf with just the money left over?

probably one for the racers but it seems strange to me

If you want to win, NC35.
If you want a good enjoyable race bike on a budget NC30.
If you have deep pockets NC35, once tuned they are OK cost wise but cost a lot to get to a top spec.

I have raced both, NC30 was a great bike but just lacks the last bit you need to get up the sharp end.

Cams
Head Design, NC30 does not flow as well.
Ignition
Carbs are actually better for flow on NC30 but fuelling set up on NC35 is better.
Suspension holds NC30 back as well.

ABRMoto, what gearing are you running on that RVF race bike? The rear sprocket looks huge.

i race a 35, they're top notch and seen as it hardly cost anything to tune (mechanic i work with did it) i love it, it's quick, stops well, handles well and they're awesome fun. oh and they're bullet proof

i was lead to believe ,and still do ,in standard trim the best road bike is the nc35, but the nc30 is better on track, until you start throwing big money at them( ala ABRMOTO :D ) .thats when the nc35 takes over

the nc30 has a close ratio gear box, well closer than the nc35 but as said the rvf carbs are easier to set up and fuel better,if you wanna win the nc35 with a blank cheque book is the beast but for shits and giggles the nc30 win ever time ....

nc30 FTW!
It's not having what you want but wanting what you've got....Loud ,Proud and Modified ....

to be honest i think the cost of both to tune is the same, basically V4's are pretty hard work to tune, i know when we we're doing mine that the biggest problem was shimming the cams. Its the same with any bike, if you want to win you have to have the best no matter what bike.

That pic was taken in IOM at the Southern 100 Road Race, Brett was running 15/43 as he was still learning the track at that point, so need good drive but not top end speed.
