what would you do.....
look guys,i'm going to dream up a situation here and i want your advice
you have two bikes ,one a jap nc30,upside down forks, standard plastics, alloy bits, dymags, sorted suspension,it's taken you many months to build, and the other bike is an accident damaged uk bike, bent forks, bent oil cooler (still holds oil),questionable wiring in parts and marks on the frame
you discuss with your friends an idea of swapping all the bits off the jap bike to the uk bike so you can ride it but they say don't,but you keep asking there advice..
the jap bike is fully moted, taxed and insured, the uk bike not
is there really enough difference between the two bikes (jap/uk) to warrant the work in taking apart a fully legal working bike to swap the bits over to a uk accident damaged bike?
yes the uk bikes are rare but in this case this one isn't as "mint" as you'd like it so would it be a case of "mutton dressed as lamb" .....
i'm interested to hear what people think,as most of the uk owners on here believe if it's uk then it has to be as standard as it can get, some of the jap owners won't give a monkeys and i think most poeple will turn there noses up at all the work involved for what? yes it's a uk bike but it's still an nc30 like the jap one and the differances aren't that great between the models
lets see what you guys think...

Re: what would you do.....
If you did switch everything to the Uk frame, wouldn't that just make it a Jap import with a UK frame?
My preference would be to make one bike with all the good bits (regardless of the origin of the donour bikes). But it sounds as though the UK bike may not have too much to offer. In which case, keep it as is!

Re: what would you do.....
I would tell that friend of yours that he needs to leave his very nice Jap bike as it is and use it. He should then begin a long term project on the UK bike to make it standard and to realise that the value of it is that it would be standard.
It is a false economy to devaluie the UK bike by adding aftermarket parts and it would also devalue the Jap bike to give it the shagged bits off the UK one.
You reading this Chris? Ride your jap bike and if you want the UK bike then take your time on it. If not, sell it now for whatever you can get
@ Rhory - get him told!!

Re: what would you do.....
+1 on keeping the jap bike and restoring th euk to standard glory, no one will know its a uk bike anyway until you explain to them and to be honest no one will really care until it time to sell it, and a modded uk bike will only be worth something if there is someone specifically wanting a modded nc30 that is also rare.

If you can find one, and yes I know that I turned one down for £5,000, I may be crazy but not completely mad.Spike16 wrote: standard rwb uk bikes go for crazy money
There is still a local one that may come up for sale, but the owner is still looking for a replacement.

Re: what would you do.....
so pretty much the verdict is ride the jap bike and enjoy it ,potter away at the uk bike and see how it pans out, don't put aftermarket stuff on the uk one it'll end up devaluing it further and at the end of the day if your not going to sell it it's only worth what it means to you rather than it being "special" because it's uk.
to be honest i prefer the jap bikes, thats why i have 4 of them lol
but chris it's up to you what you end up doing ,but this time your doing it on your own :)
