rear brake light switch
is there anyway to adjust the switch, with my front brake as soon as the pull the lever it enages the light, but with my rear its like i do a lot of braking before the light shows.. you need to press the pedel down really hard for the light to come on..
it doesnt really bother me as i only really use my rear in emergencies and when at lights to stop the bike rolling as i dont have my hands on the bars..

Re: rear brake light switch
should have a little plastic ring with a thread to move the unit up or down, screw it so that more thread is above the ring to make it more sensitive

Re: rear brake light switch
Here's a picture to help.
The black tube thing in the middle of the picture is the brake light switch.
So to activate the light with less brake pressure, you need to wind the ring so that there is more pressure on the spring.
Is that any help?

I'm in Wellington.
And I'm in the process of restoring my NC35, as you can see some of the parts in the photo.
Might post a restoration thread about it.
And thanks for the karma TK.

Re: rear brake light switch
Just to add to this for anyone else who cant get the switch to work properly after screwing it up or down.
The switch might just need a clean and is only a 5 or 10 minutess job. To do this remove the footpeg bracket, screw the large thumb wheel of the switch back until you get a bit slack, now remove the bottom of the spring off the lower mount noting how it fits. Take the rubber top off near the wires, squeeze the clip if need be. Now get a couple of small drivers and carefully slot them under the top of the main plastic body where the white inner top clips in, now carefully pull the inner out. Inside this is the needle and a spring also clipped to the upper white top are two contacts, these go around the needle plastic top.
Clean all the parts with wd40, use some wet and dry or a small file to brighten and clean all the brass parts, usually these brass parts are tarnished causing intemittent problems.
Now put it together, put the contacts in place on its inner mounting, put the plastic top of the needle in the contact gap for easer of fitting slide it in the outer body with the inner spring and retry the switch, if it was dirt an tarnish causing the problem this should now be fixed. put it all back together and set up with the thumbwheel.

Re: rear brake light switch
i found out that i can be adjusted by by using your 2 index figers, one inside the triangle of the rear set and the other round out the side to adjust the light switch without removing anything from the bike :)
