update on this, tried new pickups not difference, tried race bike coils not change

so gave up, have taken it to a garage and they are stuck too lol

they've replaced the plugs rebuilt and balanced the carbs fixed a problem with the fuel tap but all make no difference to the missfire at 5k, oh and they have found out its on the front right cylinder. their gona try an swap the CDI with another nc30 they have their to see if its that after that their stumped and may have to take the head off to take a look.

Cant believe this is such a majour serves me right for abandoning my bike for uni :(

CDI either sends a signal or it doesn't?

Coils either work or they don't?

Is it a cylinder cutting misfire or a bad fuelling one?

Bit of a messy sounding issue and surprised you gave it to a garage! Most of them spend money and do feck all...as we see time and time again.

I have a CDI spare if you want one to test?

Could be mate, the one on my NSR was fooked causing lots of little running problems but nothing as serious as yours. ended up bining the box and doing the wire splice instead and all cured.

Did you sort this spike? Mine developed this awful unbearable Harley sound out on my ride to hartside today. At first I thought it was an air leak at the front headers where the exhaust is as that's where the noise is coming from but I couldn't feel a leak. The noise is horrendous and it sounds serious. I'm so pissed.
The bike didn't feel lower in power just made this awful noise as it went up the revs. Idles and rides fine otherwise. I'll get a recording later.

I was also about 40 miles from home when this sound developed. Hope I haven't done more damage by riding it home.

Sorted. Found one of the four front exhaust studs trapped in the belly pan. Lucky. The rest were just finger tight! How do you guys make sure that these don't come loose at the manifold end? Will loctite do?
And what are the consequences of riding my bike 40 miles with a very loose exhaust!

LOL,
Just a couple of weeks ago the same happened to mine although the studs snapped, I rode my bike to Darlington and back, sounded like a mix of a v4 and harley. I would not use loctite myself but maybe copper slip them and just lightly nip them up using two nuts if needed, you never know when you need to get them out and loctite wont help that process.
