NC29 sprocket sizes
Hiya done a search but can't find what I want.
I've got a Haynes book of lies for the NC29 going off the chassis number it's an L, (1990) and need to change the chain and sprockets.
Ordered from M&P and got them delivered, Haynes says the chain should be 102 links but they have sent me 106 links and the sprockets they sent are 15/39.
Problem is, I have no idea what the standard size sprockets are, the Haynes manual for the CBR400 does not list the teeth numbers for the front and rear sprocket like it does on the other manuals I have.
So basically I have a 15t front sprocket, a 39 rear sprocket and a 106 link chain, doea this add up or should I be getting the grinder out to remove 4 links?
P.S. Anyone know of any cheap downpipes???
Cheers

Re: NC29 sprocket sizes
The size you give is the size of chain and sprockets I have just put on my NC29, I never checked what they should be in the Haynes manual, but will look when I get home. The chain seemed to fit fine and the sprockets were the same as what was on. I got mine from Hunters via ebay, DID X-Ring.
This answer is wrong, sorry, reason below..

Re: NC29 sprocket sizes
The Haynes manual does list sprocket sizes, it just calls it the final drive gear ratio (or similar). 39 is correct for the rear, I think 15 is correct for the front.

Re: NC29 sprocket sizes
oops and ohh bugger!!!! Regarding my first post, I just found the carton off my chain and it says the chain was a 102 link, then I remembered where I seen 106 mentioned, it was in Haynes for the NC23, sorry.. So the correct amount is 102, looks like you have been looking at a NC23 chain listed wrongly.

Re: NC29 sprocket sizes
Cheers guys, I told them what year it was but I should have looked up the chain length in Haynes so my bad on that one.
I really can't see the number of teeth mentioned in my Haynes manual, I read through the begining of section 6 a couple of times and couldn't see anything, checke the Hyanes for my 929 Blade and that had it right there in plain print and check the Haynes for the BabyBlade again and nothing, but cheers, now I know, so what do you recommend?
I know there will be no problem fitting it but with an extra four links the wheel will be quite a bit further back and I'll loose LOTS of adjustment and miles on this chain, should I remove four links so it;'s the standard length?
I have a chain tool or I could just gring the rivets carefully so I can remove the link four in from the end?
Cheers

Re: NC29 sprocket sizes
Well theres not a lot of adjustment left even with 102 links I have found, so the removal of those links will be the way to go. Grinding will take seconds but a rivet tool will still needed to push the links out and rejoin unless your using a clip.

Re: NC29 sprocket sizes
NOOOOOO, no clip..
I'll put the chain on to see how much room I have(n't) got for adjustment then try pushing the pins out with my chain tool fist
Thanks

Page 2.5
Transmission
L and N models
Final reduction.......... 2.600 to 1 (39/15T)

Final drive
Chain type
L and N* models.......... RK525SMOZ4 or DID525V8 (102 links, split)
*The book says R, this is an obvious typo.
106 links is indeed for J and K models.

I could see the bit about the chain length, I'm setting off home now so will have another look in the manual and possibly post back on here that I am a tool

** EDIT **
Well I'll be a monkeys uncle.. There it is on page 2.5 I never thought about looking there, the 929 manual shows the teeth in section 6, just checked the Thundercat manual and that shows the sprocket teeth in section 2 also.
you live and learn. Thanks

Re: NC29 sprocket sizes
I took four links out and it was just right..
Funnily enough, I also got a chain and sprocket set for the 929 Blade too. 110 link chain as standard, I had to take two links out of that as with all the links there was no room for adjustment as it wears????
I counted the old chain and that was 110 links? Oh well all done on both bikes
cheers
