cb400sf to cb400 four (NC36)

Post by necrofilos » Mon Mar 29, 2010 9:01 pm

Hi guys...
Greatings from Greece
I want to apologize for my bad English,i've stop my English lessons many years ago so... :sshh:
I'm going to buy a Cb400 sf version R real soon and i have a question...
I love retro bikes and i think cb400 four (nc36) is one of the best looking bikes ever!!! 8-)
So, my question is...Can i convert SF to F ? Is it possible?
How easy is that? is a bolt on convertion or i have to ''disturb'' the bike..
thank you for your time and your interest...Looking forward for answers...

Not sure you can convert the NC 31 to a 36. You could buy the 4 exhausts for say £900 but I think the engine inclination angle is different. Then there is the fenders, the tank, the side panels. All that NC36 specific stuff that is so expensive. Trust me, been there, done that because my NC36 was rotting away so I had to replace those things. I think it's too much work and it will never be the same unless you change the engine too.
The CB400 Four NC36 do come up for sale regularly so your best bet is to buy a reasonably used one. Have a look at this one: http://cb400fabfour.blogspot.com/2010_0 ... chive.html There is another Greek guy who has one of only two NC36 in Greece. You could ask him if he wants to sell up?
Cheers, Mansie

As an exercise you could run a search for the model-specific parts on the CMSNL website. You search for Honda part numbers and you just type in the middle code for the CB400 NC36. This middle code is "MBE" : http://www.cmsnl.com/searchparts.php?s_ ... listPage=2. David Silver Spares is a bit cheaper.
