NC21 Advice

Post by sh4d0w0lf » Wed Feb 17, 2010 7:46 pm

Hi guys, I have the opertunity to get my hands on a VFR400R NC21... (i think)
I was just wondering if they could be converted to single sided swingarms? if so how much should it cost for the conversion?

More importantly is it worth getting? whats the value of a decent one?

Cheers,
Adam.

The frames identical to the NC24 frame so you can put an NC24 single sided Elf arm in there if you want to, although the conventional swining arm does allow for more tinkering with changing rear wheels.

A good mint one should be worth about £600.

A rough one only a couple of hundred.

Unless your buying off the over-priced fleabay then the skys your limit.

Good bike for how much they cost. Ideally get one thats not been too messed abotu with as you wont have to spend loads of money putting it right.

Check the collectobox isn't rotten else you'll be needing about £140 and an engine out to replace it.

If you want the bike to be worth something then get a 30, they hold their value well, have better suspension, rubber and brakes as well as the 360 firing order (personal choice on this one....)

The old NC24's and 21's are great little bikes, especially if you can pick up a decent one for a few hundred quid.

The bad side is there old grey imports with little accurate available information.. many of them have changed hands a great many times and been owned by complete muppets who've butchered them to within an inch of their lives.. if it wern't for the fact that the NC13E engine is so bulletproof I summise there'd be a lot less of them on the road today.

A good condition, well maintained 21/24 for a good price is always worth checking out though, have a great pleasure factor and the same power as the 30. :-)
